Aunt Bertha Gets Typhoid Fever
In the midst of crossing the Mississippi, Bertha fell ill. Our journey delayed. May she rest in peace. We had barely passed through a small town they call St. Louis. They said they might build an arch one day.

Dinner with the Shoshone Tribe
Wagon is falling apart. Turns out, we made some friends. The Shoshone have shown us grace. We traded 2 gold for a dinner and 3 bows with arrows. Note: while passing through Kansas, a strange man had a machine that made painting without the need for a brush. We took what they call a "picture" with the Shoshone before departing. My son Charlie yearns for a hot meal.
